You give yourself away with two odd remarks: 1. "Engineers are indifferent to transport." 2. "...the religion of the original protocols." Transport systems are designed by engineers, and we most certainly care about them if we happen to work in the relevant area. Engineering is not a religion, it's a hard-nosed, scientifically-driven empirical process that's only concerned with finding the best solution to a problem. Engineers aren't punished for holding unpopular beliefs, you see. In your analysis, the Amish are the most visionary and progressive people on Earth.
