I was glad to see the conclusion you drew from these two books. One of the most controversial questions, and on-going debates in Second Life, is how or even whether, to govern the growing wold community (which looks very much like a complex network). We've come to a similar conclusion: put a few basic principles in place, be ready to respond quickly, but don't assume to know what shape it will ultimately take.
