I agree this is an important development, but why do you say "Of course law enforcement and intellectual property interests should have access to this information"? That's what many of them have been saying, but it's not a given. Both the U.S. Constitution and the international Declaration of Human Rights recognize a right to anonymous speech. That means completely anonymous, not just anonymous until law enforcement or intellectual property take interest. Why should ICANN ever mandate identification in connection with domain names that facilitate speech?
