I loved the lyrical mention of beach front, but (alas) and with all due respect to Prof. Crawford for whom I have the utmost respect, here in Maine (where it is winter, too) access to beaches is a bit more complicated. It seems that sometime in the last century, a very young Attorney General sought to make your statement true, but by a 4 to 3 vote of the Maine Supreme Court (actually, 4 beachfront owners v. 3 non-beachfront owners), the right of access was limited a bit from the "fishing and fowling" mandates of the 17th century upon which said crusading and very young Attorney General relied. (Sigh...)
