Re: Don't Touch That Dial
by bithead
So, my question is, if I manually push the fast-foward on a TiVo to zip past a commercial, is that illegal under HR4077? It looks to like it isn't, as long as TiVo doesn't save a version without the commercial, or its annoying audio. It does sound to me as though its illegal to record a broadcast, and pause the recording during commercials. A lot of people do this when watching Sunday afternoon NFL. I guess for me the disturbing part of this is to what lengths they will go to enforce this, and how many privacy rights will be trodden to death in the process. WIll my home be raided when MS Windows reports to that it found a portion of a movie file on a hard drive? After all, someone would have to check to see if the commecial had been recorded.
