If you're interested, I'll tell you the story of what happened to the last big Statement Of Principles effort I knew of, years ago. It's too harsh for a blog comment. Creative Commons is useful because it helps people do something they themselves want to do, in a legal manner. It's not *directly* adversarial to power.
